Our weekly update on Asylum UK's quest to come last in AOL Fantasy League.The Asylum Losers XI have been in depressingly good form lately. We put too much faith in Spurs to keep losing, and we were burned for it. Luckily normal service was resumed to some extent this week, when the Losers dropped down the league by 1,000 or so places towards the 24,600th mark. Here's how we did it.
First, the members of Spurs' defensive line that we took on board were largely left on the bench this week, so we were able to avoid most of the points they would have scored. Plus, while Spurs are getting good results of late, they are still having trouble finding a clean sheet.
Second, our most reliably bad player, Paul Robinson, has let in 19 goals so far this season, and he let two more slip by against Chelsea over the weekend. That reduced our monthly total to a healthy nine points. Thanks, Paul!
Third, while Joey Barton broke our year-long record of not scoring a single goal last week, he didn't come anywhere close to adding to that total in Newcastle's 2-1 defeat to Fulham. So while he has earned 11 points since returning from exile, it could have been a lot worse.
In order to capitalise on that reverse-momentus, we've made some significant changes this week. We've taken out Johnathon Spector from West Ham and brought in Zuiverloon from West Brom, on the understanding his team will lose heartily to Chelsea over the weekend.
We've also dropped Bolton's Helguson up front, and replaced him with the Hammer's Craig Bellamy, who we assume will not recover from his team's disastrous late loss to Everton last week.
