The legend of the lost city of Atlantis has been around for hundreds of years. Last week, thanks to Google Earth's new ocean-probing program, Atlantis experts (and The Sun) said they may have found the city's ruins. A rectangular grid about the size of Wales was spotted under the sea, 620 miles off the coast of Africa.Alas, a Google spokeswoman has since killed the buzz: "It's true that many amazing discoveries have been made in Google Earth ... In this case, however, what users are seeing is an artifact of the data collection process." Oh well. So for now, Atlantis will simply remain an overpriced resort in the Bahamas.

I'm perfectly willing to accept that the apparent "map" in the Sun story is an "artifact" of the data collection process. However, I will reserve judgment until someone can point out another example of such an "artifact." Can anyone tell us where to look?

I've been patient. Surely, if more examples of "artifact" maps exist, someone should be able to help us locate at least one. So where are they?
