Men almost always agree on what women are attractive, but women are inconsistent when rating male attractiveness.Researchers had over 4,000 people study photos of males and females between ages 18 and 25 in order to score them on a 10-point scale of attractiveness. The guys generally reached a consensus on their individual ratings, giving the highest marks to women they agreed looked thin, seductive and confident.
The ladies, on the other hand, didn't paint such a clear picture of what they desired. There were many cases of gals giving high attractive scores to the same picture others had trashed with low marks.
This study also explains why homely men are more likely than homely women to have awkward "misunderstandings" when feeling compelled to approach the opposite sex.

I am not really sure why men and women have different perspectives on who is attractive or not. Probably because some women look at men for husband material (personality) and some men primarily look at women as someone to sleep with. We look at the opposite sex for something we want and need and generally that is what attracts us, which is the reason why women have a different opinion. Due to men having such different personalities. I personally think a man who is rude or cocky is unattractive. But that is just me!
