A popular video trend on YouTube highlights those victims of crime who decided -- either stupidly or heroically -- to fight back and reclaim the streets for justice. Ranging from clips depicting a bike thief getting knocked around by an intended target, to a shop employee who grabs a gun pointed at his face and chases the robber out of the store, they make amazing -- if terrifying -- viewing.
We've rounded up a few videos of would-be thieves getting a little comeuppance from victims who fought back. Think of this type of street justice as "When Victims Attack." Brutal? Maybe. Satisfying to watch? Definitely. Check em out here.
Shop employee grabs gun, gives chase
Robbing a shop with a gun doesn't sound too hard -- until the man working there grabs the gun and chases you out of the store.
Biker Bar Robbery Ends Predictably
Two thieves hold up an Australian club, and they would have gotten away with it too ... if it wasn't for the gang of 50 hardcore bikers that rushed and hog-tied them.
Armed Robber Knocked Out
A stick brawl erupts in this corner shop. Watch as the owner hits the unlucky robber in the back of the head, knocking him out cold.
Store Clerk Attacks Thief With a Hammer
Corner shop workers in the USA often protect themselves with guns and bats. This guy's weapon of choice? A hammer.
The Bicycle Thief, aka, "Don't steal bikes, bro."
Okay, so there are two victims and the guy seems to get the message pretty quickly. But if you try to steal a bike in broad daylight by hacking through the lock with a power drill, what do you expect?

The violence was excessive but the robber made himself a victim by trying to make the owner of the bike he was trying to steal a victim.

Get real vanessa. Its the only thing that would get thiefs to stop and think twice about stealing. What if the bike belonged to a carer of a disabled person, or it was present from someones Mum who had just died, or simply a means to work to earn an income. Get real Vanessa!

street justice rules, the more people stand up against the low life, stealing scum of this world the better. But I do agree, the guy had no fight in him, so the beating was over the top.
Then again, if you go out to steal other peoples property, you must be prepared for any consequences.

The thief needed more than a gentle slapping. He is lucky to get off so lightly. We are far too soft with light fingered trash that show no respect for people's hard earned belongings.

He most certainly did deserve all that he got, what would you have someone do slap his wrist? there's far too much of that already and far too many do gooders telling us all what we should and shouldn't do. There should be more of this retaliation perhaps people would think twice before taking what is not theirs.

When i was 15 i was walking home with my little sister with the shopping that my mum had asked me to get when this older guy tried to steal our shopping bags. Now in my right hand i had a cola bottle so in order to defend myself and my sister I hit with it a few time and he eventually ran away. So what was I supposed to do Vanessa, just hand over my shopping? Oh and if I wasn't underage I would probably be given a criminal record for hitting MY ATTACKER.

The guy wont be taking anybody elses bike again soon. I dont think it was excessive force, they only give him a couple of little punches. If they wanted they could of messed him up.

It not too late for honest and decent people to make a stand against the thugs and low-life infesting our towns and cities. A little like for like isn't hard to justify. Bravo!

Mark people like you are the reason that society is like this. Always making excuses for them. I know who I would want standing behind me if I ever got into trouble one day. The 2 blokes who are prepared to get involed and help, not the person who wants to say help the fool stealing my property

The only problem with defending yourself or you own property in todays crazy world is : the law stands up for the the robber, thief, attacker, and you as the defender end up in trouble. look at the 71 year old grandmother that poked a youth in the chest , as he had hurled stones and abuse at her. she was fined and given a criminal record. SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN A MEDAL.

My husband has had 4 motorbikes stolen over the years. Only one time was a thief brought to court. A 14 year old boy I might add. He got a slap on the wrist my husbands bike was trashed. Okay the old bill said "oh your insurance will cover it" but that didn't give us our bike back did it. No because it was written off by a delinquent who's parents spend their time either boozed up or gossiping. The police do not enforce the law half as much as they should and the magistrates are too soft. Bring back the vigilante is what I say because these b*****d thieves need proper punishment.

Yeah the guy wasnt fighting back but I was always taught treat people how you want to be treated, if he is doing bad to people, people are going to react bad towards, Stop protecting criminals!!!! We all know right from wrong so no excuse!!! Ive had all my horse tack stolen from me!!! My horse was nearly stolen, she still has the scars where they beat her to try and get her on the lorry. She is now very nervous and prob never get over it. Also know a farmer who was ran over when he tried to stop thiefs taking off with his dog!!! He died!!! the thiefs were never caught. Im all for people power!!!!

Get real Mark, the guy was a thief, the excerpt states that he was going through the bike lock with a power drill, he was equipped for the job, he was a professional, how many bikes do you think he has stolen? All those individuals who have worked hard to pay for their bikes and this guy is just taking them, and you're sticking up for him? and he didn't get "beat up" he was still standing, he wasn't on the floor getting a kicking, he should count himself lucky, very lucky indeed.

I with most on here, i've been robbed, it's a sickening/helpless feeling and take a long time to get over, if i could have half hour with the person(s) who did it i'm sure they would find it hard to rob again.
