Following a beach ball's screamer for Sunderland against Liverpool this weekend we got to thinking about some of the more weird goals that have graced the English game. Indeed, in years gone by there has been a long line of peculiar strikes, from Gary Crosby's naughty nodded nick from the goalkeeper's hand when Nottingham Forest played Man City, to Peter Enckelman's woeful ball control when Aston Villa faced Birmingham City.
So to salute the beach ball's net busting strike (sorry Darren Bent, we have given the goal to Mr B Ball and that's final) we've compiled our favourite bizarre goals.
Check them out below.
Gary Crosby uses his head for Forest against Man City (1990)
Peter Enckelman can't handle Olof Mellberg's throw in as Aston Villa play Birmingham City (2002)
Dion Dublin is a Coventry sneak against Newcastle (1997)
