A BBC reporter levelled a drunken thug with a swift punch and a knee, after he was followed through Manchester whilst preparing to do a live broadcast for North West Tonight.Paresh Patel was followed through Manchester city centre by John Nugent, 22, and David McKenna, 27, who punched him in the face and threatened him with violence.
Little did they know their victim was a former international martial arts champion, and when one of the thugs pushed him too far, he got what he had coming.

In a flash, Patel landed a cracking right hook on the moron's chin, before following it up with a swinging knee to the guts, sending the drunken nerdowell sprawling on the pavement, the whole incident was caught on CCTV (video below):

...seconds before the cops turn up and collar the fools...

Jodie Anderson, 26, had also previously pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Patel by throwing a pint over Patel.
A spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service said: "The accused persistently followed the victim and told him not to call the police and a woman poured a pint over him at one point.
"The other two defendants continued to follow Mr Patel to Princes Street, where the victim was punched in the face and threatened with violence.
"One of them picked up a bit of street furniture and also threatened the victim. He tried to walk away but still he was followed by the suspects.

(From Asylum's friends at AskMen.com)
"Both had been drinking and appeared very drunk. But what they hadn't realised was that the victim was a black belt in karate."
Despite the video, Nugent and McKenna insisted "they were just having a laugh. And that they only picked up the chair so that he could have a sit down".
Nugent and McKenna, admitted charges of affray and assaulting Mr Patel on September 11.
Nugent and McKenna were given community orders for 18 months with supervision whilst Mckenna also has to do 14 hours unpaid work at Manchester Crown Court.
Jodie Anderson has been given a six-week suspended prison sentence and was ordered to pay Mr Patel a £50 fine.
Judge David Hernandez said: '"He defended himself, he delivered a blow. I say good for Mr Patel."
As do we. Check it out...

Oh that's brilliant Mr Patel I just wish you had given those drunken cowards a real taste of pain, I would have backed you every inch of the way. Good to see common sense from a judge too, most of them don't live in the real world.

If this had been in USA, the Police would have run the dip stick over, asked questions later!
(Mind you they probably didn't want to get crap on their nice white van!)

Nice one mr Patel but it does not always work this way,you defended your self and the court must have seen the video tape that proved you where not to blame,i was in the same position as mr Patel after being put out off business by drug dealers, the man behind this dirty business challenged me the same as the guy done with mister Patel i knocked him down and 3 weeks later i was charged with assault, when it came to court he had paid 3 people who worked for him to say i was the one to blame, because i had no witness i was found guilty and given 120 hours community service and now find it impossible to find employment because of the disclosure system, what i am saying is the innocent dont always come out smilling, you have to do the community service but it does not end with this it stays with you all your life with the diclosure system you pay for the rest of your life no employer will take you on as an employee, think on this during the assult on mr Patel the camera was out of order and the camera man looked away for a second and only seen mr Patel throw the punch and kick, in court the two assailant's say Mr Patel assulted them mr Patel would be doing community service and would be out of his job with no prospects of ever finding work again,in this country it is better to let the thugs kick the hell out of you rather than hit back, because more often then not the innocent will be the fall guy, fact the judicial system in this country is a joke it only looks after the perpetrator's of crime just look at the baby Peter case, enough said.

Mr Patel was completely in the right and should be congratulated for standing up to these louts. Two points though; is it not a great shame that in this country, idiots feel free, and are free, to wander the streets, attacking and threatening innocent citizens? Where were the police?
Also, aren't the punishments for these criminals so small as to be an insult to Mr Patel and the rest of us? Where's the deterrent?
Again, Mr Patel, I'm sorry anyone felt free to attack you, but well done for defending yourself. I'd say you waited longer than I would in your shoes, and did less harm.

As you will see the police arrived on scene and detained both men single handed. Fortunately in a democracy we don't have police on every street corner, that means there will always be a delay in police response.
