Twilight: New Moon is out this week, as we're sure your girlfriend will have made you aware. We don't know much about Twilight frankly, we don't want to know. All we do know, is that it's got something to do with vampires, that angular faced lad, what's his name? Robert Pattinson plays one in it, and apparently, he gets to snog this really hot girl all the way through.
But then again even Teen Wolf got the girl at the end - having said that Spike eventually got to cop with Buffy right? So maybe vampires are better with the ladies. But does that make up for the whole - not being able to go out during the hours of sunlight caper.
We couldn't decide, so we'd like to know - would you rather, be a vampire or a werewolf?
Social life:Vampires - From "Interview With A Vampire" and "Blade" we know that the bloodsucking pale-skins are prone to a shindig. Lord Ruthven the original literary vampire (or vampyre as it was first written) was also a keen party-goer, though this was owing to the real-life Lord Byron, Europe's foremost playboy of the 1700s, on whom he was based.
Werewolves - Werewolves are popularly only meant to become lupine during a full-moon, roughly once a month. We think it depends whether you're an "out" werewolf, ie... people know you're a werewolf, or a "closet" werewolf, ie... one who tries to hide it. Surely if you're friends are accepting and enlightened people they won't mind if you turn into a wolf once a month - you know as long as you don't bite 'em up.

Sartorially speaking:Vampires - It's well known vampires dress like sexy goths. Or maybe it's the other way round. It wasn't till Bram Stoker's Dracula that vampires first assumed their sartorial aesthetic and this was mostly owing to Sir Henry Irving the real-life inspiration for the character of Dracula, whose dramatic presence, gothic tailoring, gentlemanly mannerisms and affinity for playing villain roles lead to the vampire style.
Werewolves - Sadly for Werewolves it is more about practicality. What with them drastically changing shape whenever there's a full moon, it would make sense for them to wear spandex, preferably in the form of a unitard, having said that a wolf in a spandex unitard might look a tad odd. If there's one thing scarier than a wolf, it's a wolf that looks like it's going to make you do aerobics.

Death threat:Vampires - A steak to the heart, a swift beheading are the two most enduring ways to slay a vamp. More embarrassing for them though is that a mere clove of garlic will keep them away. A traditional vampire repellent for over 2,000 years, the ancient Egyptians believed garlic was a gift from God, Roman soldiers thought it gave them courage, sailors believed it protected them from shipwreck, and German miners believed it protected them from vampires when they went underground.
Werewolves - A silver bullet is the agreed way to kill a werewolf but folklore werewolves who became werewolves if they practiced sorcery, were excommunicated, committed suicide, were an illegitimate child or whose parents who were illegitimate, could simply be killed with a good clubbing.

Ladies:Vampires - Women's attraction to vampires has been put down to a variety of things, their sexy gothic attire and their weird kind of existential-nihilist approach to things, that seemingly comes from eternal life. Though the most talented lady-killer vampires are the Chinese ch'iang shih (Chinese for corpse-hopper). They have red eyes and crooked claws and an overwhelming libido that drives women bonkers. The more people they convert, the stronger they get, eventually gaining the ability to fly, grow long white hair, and even change into a wolf.
Werewolves - The real-life condition "clinical lycanthropy" is an actual psychological condition in which a person believes their body changes into a wolf or other creature. The first recorded person believed to have suffered from this was King Lycaon of Greece - who was also a prodigious ladies man. And women seem to like sideburns.
