Well, it's been a bad few weeks for Gillette advertising stars Thierry Henry and Tiger Woods.

First Henry is brandished a cheat after he fondled France to World Cup qualification then all of sudden people are calling Tiger Woods a cheat too, not for transgressions on the the golf course, but in the bedroom. But which would you rather be, at this moment?

Thierry lost the respect of men the world over when he controlled that ball with his hand under the flood lights in Paris. Or would you rather be Tiger. By cheating, in what appears to be pretty prolific fashion, he has lost the respect of women the world over.

Which means more to you? The respect of men or the respect of women? After the break we'll dissect each man's personal shortcomings to help you decide.

Henry

The man -- He was once the world's best footballer, adored by the footballing public regardless of your club allegiances. But he left Arsenal, The Premier League, his beautiful English wife and eventually left our hearts. Sure he won The Champions League with Barcelona, but what kind of victory was it? Henry had sacrificed everything and for what? A big tin cup? He was a shadow of the man who once did this.

The incident -- November 18, 2009 - Paris. France vs Ireland - World Cup playoff second leg. A freekick in the dying minutes of extra time floats into the box, it bounces in the six-yard box, Henry skulking in at the back post controls the ball with his hand before crossing it into the path of Gallas to score.

How he handled it -- Thierry didn't pretend. He admitted his mistake to the referee at the end of the game and then to Ireland captain Richard Dunne. He seemed dejected and upset in his post match interviews. In the following days he called for the match to be replayed. He showed tremendous courage to come out in front of the world's media and admit his mistake.

Reaction -- Initial disgust spread quickly. The Irish FA's calls for a rematch landed on deaf ears and Irish fans turned against Henry. The footballing great and good leapt to his defense, saying Henry had been a great ambassador for the game and that his reaction showed how sorry he was. In the weeks since Henry was greeted by a volley of boos, while playing for Barcelona at Valencia, but the wider footballing world it would seem has forgiven him.

Tiger

The man -- He was the world's greatest golfer. Winner of 128 tours titles. Winner of 14 majors. World number one. 10 time PGA player of the year. He'd just returned to the game after nearly a year out recovering from knee surgery.

The incident -- November 27, 2009 - Miami. At 2am Tiger knocks over a fire hydrant and wraps his SUV round a tree. Initial reports suggest his wife Elin had been trying to free him from his car with a golf club, though later it appears she may have been chasing him with it after discovering he'd been having an affair.

How he handled it -- Tiger refused to speak to the police. And as the story began to gather pace, droves of women came forward claiming to have bedded the squeaky clean golfing icon. As of this morning, 11 women are connected with golf's newest lothario, including two porn stars... and Mindy Lawton. Tiger hasn't been seen in public since the incident nor has he spoken to the media, deciding only to issue a statement on his website saying he was sorry for his "transgressions".

Reaction -- World-wide condemnation has given way to outright mockery, which would be funny if there not his wife Elin at the middle of everything. Despite his "transgressions" Elin is reported to have no intentions of divorcing her husband, who is worth an estimated £750 million. Even his golfing buddy Jim Furyk, who introduced Tiger to his wife said: "Next time maybe she should use a driver."

Would you rather?

So which cheat would you rather be? Thierry and lose the respect of men. Or Tiger and lose the respect of women. And who would you like to see replace them in the Gillette line-up? John Daly and Diego Maradonna perhaps? Let's just hope Roger Federer hasn't got any skeletons in his closet.
