Friends with benefits sexual encounters have no negative effect on the emotional well-being of young adults.Researchers at the University of Minnesota, USA asked 1,311 sexually active male and female college students a battery of questions pertaining to their mental health and self-esteem. As part of the survey, students had to classify their last sexual encounter as being either casual or with a committed partner.
Much to the researchers' surprise, they found that the 20 percent of students who had a meaningless romp had the same level of overall psychological health as those who were getting it on monogamously.
However, in the findings, twice as many guys as gals 'fessed up to casual sex. Meaning, for some, the road to emotional well-being may include a dose of delusion.

Sexual promiscuity is not primarily an issue of psychological health any more than drink driving is. Both are issues of morality, right and wrong. Using people for sex is wrong, something which all the great religions of the world agree upon. I for one would not want my wife to have had multiple sexual partners to compare me to, nor would I want her to be considered a sex object to be used and discarded for another mans passing pleasure. I certainly would not wish her to risk exposure to diseases like AIDS, herpes, and genital warts.
