Referee's come in for a fair bit of stick. Most of it deserved. But in Sweden, hopefully fans will lay off ice hockey official Wolmer Edqvist for a bit. Why? He saved a player's life on the ice.
After being hit by a Bofors player, Niklas Lihagen of Orebro HK went into cardiac arrest. Edqvist stepped in, administering CPR in an attempt to restart Lihagen's heart. Being an ambulance driver, Edqvist was well aware of the situation and his ability to quickly respond helped save the player as his heart was revived.
Check out the amazing footage after the jump, and watch the second clip to see the moment a footballers implanted defibrillator (positioned after he began suffering heart problems) kicks in to save his life.
