For months now we've been covertly reporting the secret war between man and animal. Well, there could have been a break through for mankind as the animals are in-fighting. A woodpecker has been filmed repeatedly attacking a snake which invaded its nest in the Amazon.
In the red corner, the crimson crested woodpecker. In the, erm, green corner, a 10ft olive whipsnake...
The featherweight battler made repeated attempts to drive the snake out of the tree and was bitten by the lightening-quick reptile five times.
On each occasion the snake held the much smaller bird in its mouth and then let it fall to the ground below.
After a fight lasting four minutes, (Two rounds) the wounded bird left the area and is likely to have died of its injuries or been killed by a predator.
It is thought the snake was looking for eggs or chicks and the woodpecker arrived to find it had moved in while she was away.
See the rumble in the jungle, after the jump.

Nothing special - this is the nature - its how the wild animals live - a bit like the americans and their regular invasion of countries that don't belong to them!
