In what some people are calling
"a rampage of lust" -- though let us make it plain, we certainly aren't -- a new biography is claiming that Hollywood veteran, Warren Beatty, racked up an oddly specific 12,775 ladies during 35 years of bachelorhood.
Beatty's 12,775 are believed to include Julie Christie, Natalie Wood, Faye Dunaway, Diane Keaton, Madonna, Brigette Bardot, Leslie Caron and Carly Simon, who wrote the song You're So Vain about Beatty.
Author of Star: How Warren Beatty Seduced America, Arthur Biskind deduced this astonishing number not by asking Beatty, nor by tracking down the women, no, Biskind merely used simple arithmetic. Infact the sum he used was:
365 (number of days in a year) x 35 (number of years Warren Beatty was single) = 12,775 (the exact number of women Warren Beatty bedded).
It's hard to argue with the science when it's right there in front of you. Even when it is patently bollocks. This got our brains tickling -- we wanted to know who are the most prolific shaggers in history? Find out
after the break.
6. Ron Jeremy
Job: Porn stud
Charms: Sense of humour?
Magic Number: 4500
Source: amdb
Possible STIs: 321
It's no secret how Ron achieved his prodigious number. It's his freakin' job. And seemingly, no one does it better. Ron is also one of the brightest porn actors around with an MA in special education.
5. Charlie Sheen
Job: Actor
Charms: Famously cool dad, possibly Hot Shots/ Hot Shots Part Deux
Magic Number: 5000
Source: Charlie
Possible STIs: 357
Sheen's been having marital troubles again recently. But the star of Two and a Half Men admitted to having slept with five thousand women during three decades of womanising. AND Sheen's brother Emilio Estevez has slept with Paula Abdul, though that's nothing to be proud of.
4. Umberto Billo
Job: Hotel porter
Charms: Mistaken for novelist Umberto Eco
Magic Number: 8000
Source: law courts
Possible STIs: 571
Italian hotel porter, Umberto, shot to fame on Channel 4 nip-fest Eurotrash insisting he'd bedded 8000 women over three years while working in Las Vegas, sometimes entertaining four tourists a night. His ex-boss unimpressed with Umberto's philandering, complained, "Sometimes he was too exhausted to carry the guests' luggage." And he was married to boot. This one is so random, we can't even locate an image of him! What a mystery man, eh?
3. Wilt Chamberlin
Job: Basketball player
Charms: Long legs and array of interesting nicknames (Wilt the Stilt, The Big Dipper, and Chairman of the Boards)
Magic Number: 20,000
Source: Him... bragging
Possible STIs: 1,428
Swedish Olympic high jumper Annette Tånnander, who met Wilt when he was 40 and she, 19, described him a pre-eminent Lothario who was extremely confident yet respectful: "I think Wilt hit on everything that moved, but he never was bad or rude." It seemed that Wilt didn't exactly live up to his name.
2. Fidel Castro
Job: Dictator
Charms: Dictator
Magic Number: 35,000
Source: Former staff
Possible STIs: 1785
It's good being the dictator. It's not so much that all the ladies love you, it's that they have to love you. The wrinkly old commie is famed for his womanising though talking about it in Cuba is thoroughly taboo. "He slept with at least two women a day for more than four decades - one for lunch and one for supper. Sometimes he even ordered one for breakfast," an ex-Castro official named "Ramon" told filmmaker Ian Halperin in a documentary.
1. Genghis Khan
Job: Emperor
Charms: Power? Cool duds.
Magic Number: 50,000+
Source: Science
Possible STIs: 3,571
A recent study found that 1 in 200 men in the world has a common ancestor -- with particular prevalence among the Mongol population. Roughly 16 million men, 1 in every 200 men on the planet has Khan's Y-chromosome. Though he did say "The greatest pleasure is to vanquish your enemies and chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth and see those dear to them bathed in tears, to ride their horses and clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters." Which isn't a sentiment we share.
Altogether our six studs have racked up an incredible 122,500 conquests, if that was converted to notches on a bedpost, that bedpost would have to be so tall it would reach twice the height of the Empire State Building*.
*This is not true, not even partially. The actual height would be about half that of the Effiel Tower**.
**This is also not true.

Isn't it amazing that 365 (days in a year) multiplied by 35 (years of bachelorhood) equals (the oddly specific) 12,775. Warren's bought a calculator, not that he's got any spare time to use it.

Literary honors may go to the French novelist George Simenon, who claimed to have had sex with 10,000 women. But one of his wives amended that to a mere 1,200. In any case, Simenon at one point was living with his present wife, his ex wife, and his mistress, and having sex with all of them, and also cheating on them, if that's the word, with various prostitutes. Simenon was said to be put out he was never awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. Had there been a Nobel Piece Prize, he might have had a go. In politics, there is Fidel Castro, said to have sexed 35,000 women, including Gina Lolabrigida. He commonly had one for lunch, a second for supper, and sometimes a third for breakfast when he was feeling expecially frisky. In war, no one exceeds Genghis Khan, who has at least 16,000,000 genetic descendants. This would have required the Great and Terrible Khan to have impregnated 50,000 women.....impressive indeed considering that he was at the same time conquering much of the world.
