Did you think anything could be more irksome than Ant & Dec pretending to be friends with cab drivers to plug Nintendo? Well there is... but only just.

Advertising types from 'Marketing' magazine have compiled a list of the top 10 most irritating TV ads from the past 12 months.

It will not come as a surprise to anyone who owns a television - or has walked past an electrical store window - that the annoying curly, moustache-wearing opera singer from the Go Compare adverts has secured the top spot.

The Cash4Gold ads - where grannies are encouraged to throw their family heirlooms into an envelope and post them off - came in second place, followed by the 'Poo at Paul's' advert from Glade.

While we know that not all adverts are this annoying, other dodgy ads aimed at parting us from our hard-earned cash include the Churchill dog, jingles from the likes of Webuyanycar.com and Johnny Rotten selling butter.

Check out the top 10 irritating TV adverts after the jump -- and don't say we didn't warn you if you end up tearing your eyes out and squeezing bleach down the holes.
