So what happened to your "no porn" policy hey Steve Jobs? The reason we ask is because yesterday, what could only be called, an, and excuse us for saying, "transgressive erotic novel" topped Apple's iBookstore paid chart.

The bluntly titled "Incest Urges of a Nymphomaniac", a novel by Carl East (left), a 54-year-old prolific erotic novelist from Hull, whose previous works include The Confessions of a Nymphomaniac trilogy, Fighting the Lust, Harris in Wonderland and Thai Beauties, was sitting pretty ahead of Twilight and Frankie Boyle's My S**t Life So Far.

"Incest Urges" is the tale of Sophia, a caring young woman who has a tragic accident which turns her into a raving sex-fiend intent on copulating with members of her close family, who oddly, don't seem that resistive to the idea.

It's a surprise success for East who only started writing in 2000 at the age of 44, and who admits at first "wasn't very good".

"I chose to write imaginative things, and sometimes allowed my own imagination to get away from me,

Whether or not East's success is part of a string of iBookstore related hacks is yet to be established. We invited Apple to comment but they've yet to do so. We'll keep you updated as this fast-moving, erotic tale, develops.

For exclusive snaps of East's brief sojourn at the top of the charts, keep reading.

"The first book I got published was The Second Apprentice followed closely by The Talking Sword both of which are sword and sorcerer type tales, but none of them have been downloaded yet.

"They just seem to want my erotic stories." said East.

Unfortunately it would seem East's overnight success will be just that, as the book has (at the time of publication) been unceremoniously pulled from the iBookstore completely.

Some turned Carl's surprise appearance at the top of the bestseller list into a joke, leaving humourous comments in the reviews section -- one review said: "Heaven forbid that anyone should consider settling for the free, but lesser prose of, say, Dickens when there are gems like this about instead."

While some reviews were more critical: "Sick, this is disgusting, I don't know why I read it."

"[A] Stupendously empty plot which leaves the reader bored by the finale, which is to say the least, impotent." Pun intended?

Luckily you can however still get Carl's superb "Short Erotic Tales 1" for free.
